in 1746 by William Dortch. Since Arthur’s mother signed this deed also and it
had been Barny Johnson land then Barny must have been the father of Arthur
Johnson. DMJ) Other Johnson researchers have Barnabas
Johnson the Revolutionary Soldier that died in Warren Co., TN as the son of
Barnaby Johnson. The records only show Arthur Johnson as the son of Barnaby. In
Cumberland Co., NC records there was a close relationship of Arthur and Barnabas
Johnson and I think Barnabas was the son of Barnaby or at least a brother of
Arthur. Question is was Patience the daughter of Hugh Matthews. Hugh Matthews in
his will, made 7 Nov. 1747, mentioned his daughters, Hester Johnson and Patience
Johnson. Hester was the wife of William Johnston son of Benjamin Johnston Sr.
