Joel Green Huddleston was born 4 Oct 1845 in
Fentress County TN. He was the oldest son of Thomas and Malinda Huddleston and
grandson of John C and Ann Huddleston. He was 18 when he enlisted. The other
Huddlestons in the 1st Mtd Infantry are his cousins. His uncle, Joel G.
Huddleston, served in the 2nd TN. My gr-grandfather, Joel Green
Huddleston, married Tabitha Emeline Ledbetter, daughter of Washington Ledbetter,
Jr and his wife Mary. They married in Overton County 3 Aug 1866. For the next
few years after they war, they stayed there in the Oveton/ Fentress area of TN
until 1887 when he moved his growing family to Cumberland Co, KY. Family stories
said that he was so sadden by the breach in the Huddleston family where so many
of his cousins fought on both sides during the war that he finally moved away.
He moved his family to Collin County TX in 1893 where he preached in the First
Christain Church. He moved on to Mineral Wells TX in 1900 on advice of James
Alanzo Goodbar, his cousin. James was stepson of his uncle, Joel. Joel and
Tabitha were the parents of 12 children, all born in Tennessee. Joel Green died
22 Dec. 1920 in Mineral Wells TX. Tabitha died 15 Feb 1933. Photo is

TENNESSEE MOUNTED INFANTRY. HE IS IN FULL UNIFORM AND HE USES HIS MIDDLE
FINGER AS HIS TRIGGER FINGER AFTER HAVING THE FIRST DIGIT OF HIS INDEX FINGER
SHOT OFF DURING THE WAR. HE NAMED ONE SON, ROBERT PRETTYMAN GIBSON, AS
PRETTYMAN JONES WAS HIS COMPANY COMMANDER. OUR THANKS TO BUDDY GIBSON FOR

EDWIN PRICE SHORT, COMPANY F, Buried in Turner Cem., near Union Hill,
Jackson Co., TN.

James
'Jim' Patterson with his wife, Tishey. He was born on 28 June 1846 at
Flynn's Lick, Jackson Co., TN. He had five children. He died on 4
August 1916 and is buried at the Patterson Cemetery, Pleasant Shade, TN. He was
a farmer and resided in Pleasant Shade all his life. he was 5 feet 5
inches tall, fair complexion, blue eyes with light colored hair. He joined
Company A as a Private in January 1864 and received an honorable discharge in
January 1865. His father, Whitman H. Patterson joined Company A one day
after James and was honorably discharged in 1865. Whitman was 45 years old
and also a Private. James applied for and received a pension in 1890 due
to measles that resulted in a loss of his hearing. He was disabled at that
time and was 44 years old. His pension was $12.00 per month. He was
married five times and out lived all but his last wife. All of his wives
except for his fifth wife are buried with him at the Patterson Cemetery. Information

Brim was born 22 Sep 1848, and his brother, Ozias Denton Polk, born abt 1850,
also served in Company I.
