PRIVATE JOHN ESAW ATNIP ENLISTED IN COMPANY F OF 25TH TENNESSEE INFANTRY ON 21
SEPTEMBER 1861 AT CAMP MYERS, OVERTON COUNTY, TENNESSE. HE
WAS WOUNDED AT BATTLE OF FISHING CREEK IN PULASKI COUNTY, KENTUCKY ON 18TH OF
JANUARY 1862.
BECAUSE OF HIS WOUNDS WHICH WAS GUNSHOT IN THE LEFT ARM ABOVE THE WRIST HE WAS WAS
DISCHARGED ON 21 SEPTEMBER 1862. HIS DISCHARGE WAS SIGNED BY
CAPTAIN PRETTYMAN JONES. HIS DISCHARGE STATES HE WAS 36 YEARS OLD WHEN HE
ENLISTED, FIVE FEET NINE INCHES TALL, DARK COMPLEXION, BLACK HAIR AND BLACK
EYES.

JAMES ENLISTED ON 20 MAY 1861 AND SERVED AS PRIVATE AND CORPORAL IN CAPTAIN
ASAPH HILL'S COMPANY F, 7TH TENNESSEE INFANTRY IN VIRGINIA AND WAS DISCHARGED IN
AUGUST 1862 BECAUSE OF POOR HEALTH. IN VIRGINIA HE WAS IN THE CHEAT
MOUNTAIN CAMPAIGN, BATTLE OF SEVEN PINES, AND MECHANICSVILLE AND GAINES' MILL.
LATER HE JOINED ALLISON'S CAVALRY WHERE HE SERVED AS SGT IN COMPANY A.
PRIVATE ARWINE PAGE SERVED IN COMPANY I OF 35TH TENNESSEE INFANTRY. AFTER
BATTLE OF SHILOH HE AND TWO OF HIS NEPHEWS DESERTED AND HE JOINED UNION ARMY IN
COMPANY F OF FOURTH TENNESSEE MOUNTED INFANTRY COMMANDED BY COLONEL BLACKBURN.
SGT ROBERT SMITH WAS IN COMPANY C OF FIRST
TENNESSEE MOUNTED INFANTRY. HIS BROTHER, CHARLES AND TWO OR MORE OF HIS
NEPHEWS WERE ALSO IN FIRST TENNESSEE.
PRIVATE JOSIAH YOUNGBLOOD WAS IN COMPANY A
5TH TENNESSEE CAVALRY COMMANDED BY COLONEL WILLIAM B. STOKES.
